Meet Mr & Mrs Joe Public & Family

Meet Mr & Mrs Joe Public and Family –  sacrificed on the altar of Right-wing ideology.

Never in modern times have the lives, livelihoods, well-being, dreams and aspirations of so many been so cruelly trampled by the political ambitions of so few.

Built upon the pillars of greed, selfishness, exploitation and corruption, Right-wing ideology is a monster that stalks the world; its total lack of morality in stark contrast to that expected of those whose life’s it has come to dominate.

A law unto itself, it serves the few, well. Helping preserve and consolidate a privileged way of life rooted and locked in a bygone age, at odds with the values, senses and morality of the 21st century.

Let me make it clear. I am not, nor have I ever been a political firebrand.    What I am is just one of the millions of ordinary people that make up UK society. Never active in politics, what I have witnessed over my not inconsiderable years fills me with grave concern for future generations, not least my own progeny.

Hello – having happened upon this blog I hope you will find it sufficiently interesting to ‘see it through’. Even to bring it to the attention of others.

As someone around at the start of WW2, what follows is a personal reflection on politics, society and the need to find a fairer way. Hopefully, at least it will start a meaningful debate and, who knows, even to millions demanding a fairer society and better life for themselves and future generations. It’s a long shot – but worth a try

Born working class in the 1930s, I consider myself one of a lucky generation in that, as teenagers and young adults, life was immeasurably better than the appalling poverty, deprivation and utter helplessness our parents had experienced.

There was even the glimmer of a fairer society about to emerge, but it didn’t last and it wasn’t long before the few regained the upper hand.

 The immorality of Right-wing ideology : –

There never has been a time when the many were not controlled and exploited by the few.

A product of society stretching back through the ages, the few eventually came to see it as their birth right to rule over lives and destinies, often using extremes of fear, force and brutality.

Zoom forward to present times, and a quick glance at who controls the judiciary, financial institutions, commerce and industry, hedge (shark) funds, the armed forces, police, press, media, etcetera – confirming little has changed – the few, still holding sway over the lives of the many.

The difference being, although still not averse to using lies, half-truths, exaggeration, misleading assertions, propaganda and force, they mainly have resorted to using the law and legislation to get their way. Their law, of course!

And, while the industrial revolution brought great wealth for the few, it did little to improve the life of the many. The fight for fairness and equal opportunity throughout the 18th, 19th & 20th centuries, still being fought well into the 21st. Still opposed at every twist and turn, by the few.

A glimpse beneath the Right’s cloak of self-proclaimed progressiveness,  revealing it as a regressive ideology, anchored in a bygone age.

Where abundance and affluence lived alongside poverty and deprivation – without so much as the blink of an eye.

History and the more recent past, speaking for itself.

Proof enough of the iniquity of Right-wing ideology.

Couldn’t believe their luck:

When the Tories came to power, May 2010, they couldn’t believe their luck.

Faced with what they saw as the opportunity of a lifetime, they were wetting their pants at the prospect of what they could get away with by using the financial crisis brought about by greedy banks as a smokescreen for imposing callous Right-wing politics on a nation seen as ripe for the picking.

Far from being an economic necessity, as the few would have us believe, what has since been foisted on a largely gullible society is extreme Right-wing ideology  resulting in the demolition of the essential fabric of decent society.

NHS PRIVATISED! COUNCIL & SOCIAL SERVICES DECIMATED! RIP OFF ENERGY BILLS! PAY FREEZE! BEDROOM TAX! POVERTY WAGES! FUEL POVERTY! MISERY & DESPAIR! POVERTY & DEPRIVATION! EMA STOPPED! BENEFITS CUT TO THE BONE! HOMES REPOSESSED! CARE HOMES SHUT! JOBS EXPORTED! FOOD BANKS! ZERO HOURS CONTRACTS! HOUSING CRISIS! SOARING PRIVATE RENTS! LOW/MIDDLE-INCOME FAMILIES, SACRIFICED ON THE ALTAR OF TORY AUSTERITY!

Hello Joe Public.  Yes, you – all the millions of ordinary people out there that make up the bulk of UK society – WAKE UP!

Do you really buy the contribution the few make to society entitles them to rake in £millions while the many have to make do with whatever they deem their ‘system’ can afford? Doesn’t it make you angry? Doesn’t it make you want to do something about it? IT SHOULD!!

The few would have us believe they are the wealth makers, that we need them for their money.

Think about it – money is just an invention – ‘trading tokens’. You could put all the money in the world in the middle of Wembley Stadium, leave it there indefinitely and, without the labours of the many, nothing would get done.

The point being, the driving force behind wealth creation is the labours of the many. Any amount of money, worthless without it.

And does it not incense you they then use ‘(their?) wealth‘ as a source of power over those that created it?

People need to wake up to the fact such power is an illusion – that, without society’s labours, there would be no wealth.

So how come JP gets the crumbs while the few rake in £millions?

Wealth makers?? More like wealth takers!!

And another thing. The few would have us believe that’s how it is and naïve to think it can be changed.

Don’t be fooledthey know it can be changed.  Which is why they demonize and do all they can to minimize and weaken union power.

Why? Because union power is people power. The power that will herald in the change they fear. And it scares the crap out of them.

A consequence of greed and a mismanaged banking system, the 2008 financial crisis brought society to a crossroad that served to expose the obscenity of a status quo rooted and locked in a bygone age.

Time is for change. For JP to shake off the shackles of a status quo  locked in a bygone age, and to demand a society more in keeping with the values, senses and morality of the 21st century.
